The Durham Jr. Lightning...

are a group of dedicated, talented young women who play in the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL). The PWHL is a league comprised of 17 teams from Ontario which provides a competitive and elite opportunity within the OWHA to compete at the highest level. Many of the players in this league are given opportunities to further their athlete careers in both the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) league, and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) in the United States.

Congratulations to Team Ontario Red for winning the 2007 National Women’s Under-18 Championship. Durham West players Natalie Spooner and Tara Watchorn helped Team Ontario win its fourth consecutive gold medal at the Under-18 National Championship.
